Announcing the Fall 2010 Session of The Valley Jazz Choir!
SCHEDULE
Fall 2010 season will run 7-9 pm every Tuesday,
from September 7 until December 7.
The concert will be on Saturday, December 11, location TBD.
FEE
The cost for the entire season is $250 per singer,
payable all at once or in monthly installments of $62.50.

| NEW: VALLEY JAZZ CHOIR FOR TEENS!
Tony is starting a second choir just for teens aged 15-18. (Exceptions will be made for younger students on a case-by-case basis). Like its adult counterpart, this choir will perform songs in the jazz, gospel, blues, and world styles, with a rhythm section as well as a cappella. Students who have wanted to work with Lechner are now able to do so through this vocal group!

The group will rehearse on Tuesday afternoons, from 4:00 - 6:00pm at the East St. Studio in Hadley. The first rehearsal will be on Tuesday, September 7, and the final rehearsal will be on Tuesday, December 7. The final concert will be on Saturday, December 11, location TBD.
FEE

There is no audition for this group, but singers should be expected to have some experience singing in groups, singing harmony, and learning parts on their own. Also, a healthy enthusiasm for jazz! CD's & mp3's will be provided with parts isolated for learning, so reading music is NOT necessary. |

The Valley Jazz Choir is an ensemble that is open to local adults and high school students who love to sing jazz. Repertoire will include classic vocal jazz songs and arrangements as well as contemporary charts from Take 6, The Real Group, and even local arrangers. Gospel, swing, latin, R&B; this group is going to cover it all!
If you have a great ear but can't read music, don't worry; with practice CD's & mp3's you can learn your part by listening. The most important qualification is that you have a passion for singing and a voice that you want to share.
  For the past 10 years, Tony Lechner has directed the critically acclaimed & international award-winning a cappella group 5-Alone at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School (PVPA). In every incarnation of the group, he has directed his students to excellence, winning honors not just reserved for high school ensembles, but within the professional a cappella & jazz worlds as well.
Until now, Tony's talents as a teacher have been shared only with the PVPA community. For the first time, with the founding of the Valley Jazz Choir, adults and teens from outside PVPA will have the opportunity to sing with this wonderful director.
